BODY OF DROWNED CHILD. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) GISBORNE, Friday. The body of Douglas Barradell, a nine-year-old boy, who was drowned in the Taruheru River last Friday, was recovered to-day. DEATH FROM HEART TROUBLE. GISBORNE, Thursday. “Death due to fatty degeneration of the heart,” was the verdict returned by the coroner in the case of George Miller, aged 60, farm hand, who was found dead in bed at Maiawai. A MARLBOROUGH TRAGEDY. BLENHEIM, Thursday. At Dillon’s Point this morning the body of Harry Ferdinand Fantour Huddlestone, aged 63, was discovered on the river bank by his wife. He had apparently committed suicide by shooting himself in the head. He had left the house a few. minutes previously. On his failing to appear, his wife searched and made the tragic discovery. FATHER AND CHILD HURT. CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday. Mr John Barnett, while riding a bicycle in Barbadoes Street, yesterday, collided with a motor lorry. He had his son of three, years on the handlebar. .Both were taken to hospital suffering from abrasions and shock. Barnett was unconscious, but regained consciousness during the evening. Both are progressing. EX-SOLDIER DROWNED. WELLINGTON, Thursday. An inquest was held on Wednesday, before the coroner, Mr W. G. Riddell, S.M., concerning the death of Mark Berney Breeze, an ex-soldier, aged 31, who fell into the harbour on Saturday night. After hearing t’ e evidence the coroner returned a verdict of death through accidental drowning. SERIOUSLY INJURED BY FALL. Severe head injuries were sustained by. Mr William John Mar/litt, of Mount Eden, through falling from a tramcar in Dominion Road yesterday. He was removed >to the Auckland Hospital in an unconscious state, and in the evening his condition was reported to be very grave. , Mr Marflitt, who is married, is 53 years of age.
