ANGLICAN CHURCHMEN.
OBJECTION TO SERVICES. A SOCIETY FORMED. Parishioners of Hamilton and Frankton Anglican Churches met last evening for the purpose of forming a Churchmen’s Society, with the object of ensuring that the teachings of the Church of England should be preserved. An address on the growth of the Anglo-Catholic movement was given by Rev. F. H. Spencer, who instanced the Prayer Book as the guide for the correct conduct of services. He urged his listeners to resist the introduction of doctrines and forms of worship contrary to the services set forth in the book. Several speakers present expressed the opinion that every effort should be made to discourage the continuance of Anglo-Catholic teachings. A provisional committee was elected. and it was resolved to call a committee of church people at an early date for the purpose of discussing the objects of the society and obtaining further support.
