FARMERS' CONFERENCE.

AUCKLAND PROVINCE. The second day of the annual provincial conference of the Farmers' Union commenced this morning. Yesterday was spent in considering remits dealing with land, stock, wool, export produce and control boards. The contentious subject of a proposed agricultural bank was also touched on, the. conference deciding to urge the Government to introduce legislation enabling farmers to form such a bank. The evening was partially given up to domestic matters affecting the organisation of the province. To-day's business will include discussion on further financial matters and also taxation, education and political affairs. To-morrow the treasurer's report and balance sheet will be presented and the election of officers will take place. The conference will conclude on Friday with consideration of further remits and general business. Remits Passed. Before the conclusion of the afternoon sitting yesterday the following remits were carried:— "That the Government be again urged to take over the liability on all cattle-dips and reimburse the expenditure already incurred in erecting the same." "That the be urged to make further investigation in the direction of discovering remedies for marnmitis and vaginitis, two of the most serious diseases that the dairy farmer has to contend with." "That this conference supports control of dairy produce and meat by boards elected by producers, but calls for the elimination of trade representatives from both and of Government representatives from the Dairy'Produee Board, the latter not being in any circumstances dependent on Government funds." "That the pig subsidy should be in the form of a guarantee of a minimum price per lb on pork exported to Britain, the price obtainable there regulating other prices." Political League to Meet.
