PUBLFC NOTICES. " ' BILL INTITULED " THE CHURCH • OP ENGLAND EMPOWERING ACT 1928." NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that application is intended to be made to the General Assembly of New Zealand in the ensuing session by ALFRED WALTER AVERILL D.D. Archbishop of New Zealand. CHARLES JAMES TUNKS of the City of Auckland Barrister, HENRY DOUGLAS ANDREWS of the Citv of Christ-church Barrister, THOMAS FREDERIC MARTIN of the City of Wellington Barrister and HERBERT EDGAR EVANS of the City of Wellington Earrister (hereinafter called " The Promoters") for leave to bring in a Private Bill the Short Title of which is as above to effect the following objects and purposes viz.: —■ 1. To authorise the Bishops, Clergy and Laity of the Church of the Province of New Zealand commonly called " The Church of England," which in the Constitution of such Church is described as " The (or this or a) Branch of the United Church of England and Ireland in New Zealand " and as " This Branch of the Church of England " in General Synod assembled, subject to the provisions in the said Act contained, to exercise the following powers that is to say:—To alter add to or diminish the "Formularies" which expression shall extend to mean and include the Book of Common Prayer, the Form and Manner of Making, Ordaining and Consecrating of Rishops Priests and Deacons, and the Thirty-nine Articles of Religion, all referred io in Clause 1 of the Constitution of Hie said Church, or any one or more of such Formularies, or any part or parts thereof, or to frame or adopt for use in the said Church new Formularies in lieu thereof or of any part or parts thereof, and to ordtr or permit the use in public worship of a Version other than the Authorised Version of the Bible or of any part or parts thereof. 2. To declare to have been and to be valid Title G Canon i of the Canons of the said Genera I.Synod as set out in the Second Schedule to the said Act. 3. To provide that certniu alterations revocations additions diminutions orderings or pcriLUi.'flgs already made by the said General tfrnod or to be made under th? authority of the above propose 1 Bi!! shall not affect or impair or he deemed to have affected or impaired the identity of the said Church or to affect jeopardise or impair the title of any property held by or in trust for the said Church or for the General Synod or any Diocesan Synod thereof or by or in trust for any other organisations of the said Church. 4. To provide that the powers conferred by the said proposed Bill shall be in substitution for the powers purporting to be conferred by Clauses 2. 3 and 4.0 f the Constitution of the said Church. 5. Printed copies of the proposed Bill will be deposited in the Office of the Examiner of Standing Orders, Parliamentary Buildings, Wellington, and at the Diocesan Office of each Diocese of the said Church on the 12th day of June 1928 and the said copies may be inspected by all persons at those Offices which ore situated as follows: —26 Dowling Street, Dunedin, 40 Shortland Street, Auckland, Booth and Chapman's Buildings, Victoria Street, Hamilton, Sussex Street, Nelson, 3 Church Lane, Napier, 173 Cashel Street, Christfhurch, 20 Mulgrave Street, Wellington.
