HAMBURG EXPLOSION.
A PERNICIOUS GAS. MAY CAUSE DEATH DAYS AFTER. (By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright.' (Australian Press Association). . (Received May 22, 2'.30 p.m.) LONDON, May 21. The tank of phosgene gas which exploded at Hamburg belonged to a chemical firm responsible for supplying war-time poison gas'. It is at present in liquidation and the gas w'as awaiting removal abroad. The war-time name of the gas was “Yellow Gross.” K is invisible and ,being heavier than air, lingers close to the ground. It is diflicult to disperse. When weak it is hardly noliceable. When it is inhaled, though there is no immediate consequence, the person is liable to become suddenly worse and die some days afterwards.
