SHEEP WANDERING. OWNER CONVICTED. For permitting sheep to wander on River Road. William Thomas McCabe, of Claudelands, was convicted and discharged in the Magistrate s Court Ibis morning. Sergeant Stark said two dead sheep were found on the road, and action had been taken under the Public Works Act for allowing the sheep to stray. , For the defence Mr 11. J. McMullm said the case was “absurdly trivial. Defendant had made a full statement to the police, and admitted lie did not know how Ihe sheep could ha\e strayed from the enclosure. He asked that" the case be dismissed. “I cannot do that," said Mr I*. MV. Platts, S.M. “It is an offence against the Act, and accused will be convicted with no costs.”
