MORRINSVILLE SCHOOL.

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. At the monthly meeting of the Mrorinsville School Committee the chairman, Mr McGregor, presided, other members present being Mesdames Oates and Cornish, Messrs Gray, Gaddis, Irvine, and Scott (secretary). The headmaster, Mr Campbell, was also in attendance. The headmaster reported that the advisory inspector had visited the school and had reported favourably upon the proposed additions to school buildings. He agreed that the additional rooms were absolutely essential. The report would have to be referred to the Education Department. Only two of the country schools had replied to the invitation to join in the annual school excursion, and as the . season is getting lale the matter was allowed to lapse for this year. A letter enclosing a donation of three guineas was received from the Auckland Y.oung Women’s Bible Class, thanking the committee for the use of the school rooms for their annual rally. A report was also received from the teachers stating that the rooms and everything were left in good ordei.The secretary was instructed to notify the board of the donation and state that everything had been left in order. The Education Board wrote that tenders had been called for additions to school buijdings and that F. A. Fall’s tender had been accepted. The dental department of the Education Board advised thal dental equipment had been forwarded to Morrinsvillc and that the dental clinic could he opened on April 23, and that a dental nurse would bo available then.—lt was decided to reply to the board s letter j that owing to the delay in answering j the committee’s letter the committee I had been put, to the expense of engag- j ing temporary rooms at a cost of £3 ! 10s. The board in its letter stated; that Nurse Bradley, who had been ap- I pointed, was well qualified for the I position. It was decided that the lady members of the Morrinsville committee and lady members of the district schools meet Nurse Bradley on her arrival on Tuesday and welcome her to her new position. \ The headmaster pointed out the absolute necessity of acquiring at. once six additional typewriters for the High School. The cost would he about £9O. The committee would have to raise £45, and the question was how to do if. Fourteen were wanted, hut they could manage for a time with six. Typewriting, shorthand, and book- , keeping were necessary for the com- , mercial course. j The chairman stated that the late concert in aid of the dental clinic had netted £37. A concert and produce sale were suggested and the business of arranging for same was left to a committee. Several repairs to buildings, fences, and grounds were authorised to be done.
