REDUCING EROSION.

RIVER AT HORA HORA. LARGE AMOUNT OF DEBRIS. Steps are hems: taken to reduee t,h° amount, of erosion, taking place along the banks of the Waikato River between Arapuni and Mora Hora. Advice was received from a Public Works engineer to-day that the river had risen greatly above the powerhouse owing to the immense amount of debris coming from the new course across Waikato Flat. The engineer said every effort is being made to minimise the amount, of erosion, particularly al the bends where the hanks are falling away. At the Hora. Hora power-station the position is very much the same. Ml the turbines are in operation, and the screens arc clear from debris. It is not, known how much more erosion will -take place, but. it. will not be very extensive.
