BRITAIN AND EGYPT.
GRAVE CRISIS LOOMING. NAHAS' DECLARATION. GOVERNMENT DETERMINED. (T3y Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright.) (Australian Press Assn, —United Service.) LONDON, April 20. The Cairo correspondent of the Daily Telegraph lays stress upon the view that Egypt is nearing a grave crisis. He says the latest statement made by the Prime Minister, Nahas Pasha, to a German journalist, was very bold. Nahas declared that the Egyptian Government did not recognise the declaration of February, 1922. Because Egypt never was part of the British Empire it was impossible to confer independence upon her, which was her inherent and essential right. His Government was determined to proceed with its assemblies law.
