SAVAGED BY HORSE.
VICIOUS BITE INSTEAD OF RIDE.
Thomas Somerville, a 10-year-old boy, living at Mayfield, New South Wales, noticed a horse standing in a lane near his home, and thought he would like a ride .
He tried to cimb on to its back, when it turned on him and savagely bit him. The animal buried its teeth in the left side of his face, biting out a large piece of flesh, the jaw bone being exposed. He was taken by the ambulance to the Newcastle Hospital.
