RUGBY FOOTBALL.

VISIT FROM AUCKLAND GRAMMAR. GAME WITH OLD BOYS. The Rugby season will have an unofficial si,art off in Hamilton tomorrow, when Auckland Grammar and Hamilton Old Boys will meet at Rugby Hark. A bright game is promised, and there will be a big turn-out of the public.

Auckland Grammar Old Boys’ team will be chosen from the following:— Singleton (2), Turd, .T. Wilson, Skelton, Williams (2), Baddey, Monteith, Potter, McCarthy. Whelan, Cathcart, Batty, Knight, Gladding, Schnauer, Short, Clark. Hamilton Old Boys will be selected from the following:—Boneham. Greville, .1. Johns ton, Williams, McNamara, Edge, Head, Brough, Tuck, Eyre, Fitzgerald, Simpson, Dick, Hawke, McLean, Griffiths, Wilson.

Frankton v. Marists

The following will represent. Frankton in a game with Marists at Rugby Park at 3 p.m.Sicott, Charleston (2), Ford. Priscott, Joe Hooper, Cruiokshanks, Kcmpthornr, Bayly (rover), Eskrigge, Snodgrass, Samson, MeKubrie, Sterritt, Charleston, Kirk, Carthy, B. Ilooper, Pickup.

Lodge Game

The team to represent the Hamilton Lodge, Manchester Unity, against Cambridge, on Saturday, at Cambridge. will be chosen from the following:—Ray, Patterson, Ousley, Peters, Pickup, Fisher (2), Pri.sk, Wood, Sinnott, Louie, Wilson, South, Paget, Caraway, Griffiths. Bus will leave Ward Street corner at 2 p.m. sharp.

THE FRANKTON CLUB.

STRENGTHENING LOWER GRADES

A SUCCESSFUL RALLY

At a special general meeting of the Frankton Football Club, which was held in the Railway Social Hall at Frankton last evening, Mr W. 11. Udy presided over a good attendance of players and enthusiasts. The chairman explained the desire for a rallying interest in the club in the Frankton area, with the object of spreading the game over as wide a territory as possible, and thereby securing greater numbers in the playing ranks. It was in the junior ranks of the cluh that a strengthening was most desired. The speaker stressed the importance of keeping up the lower grade teams, and felL that with the talent lo be recruited from such an important and populous area of the town the club could advance markedly in the direction indicated. Mr Udy’s remarks were generally supported, and a strong committee was set up lo look after the club’s interests in Frankton.

A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mr Clark for the presentation of a medal, and to Mr Webb for a donation to the club.

Jt was resolved to donate a set of jerseys and a football to the Frankton School.

Application is to be made for the use of the Weka Street grounds for training purposes. A practice of all grades will be held at Rugby Park to-morrow at 2 p.m., when a full muster is desired.

MORRINSVILLE CLUB.

MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. At a meeting of the Management Committee of the Morrinsville Union .Mr W. Hogg was appointed chairman for the season. Messrs B. Chapman and C. Mclntyre were appointed delegates to the Waikato Rugby Union; Postponement Coinmil lee, President, Secretary and Mr D. R. F. Campbell. It was decided to commence competition play on Saturday, and Messrs Hogg, C. Mclntyre and Ford were appointed a sub-committee to arrange the details.

At Hie annual meeting of the Morrinsvillc Referees’ Association the following officers were elected:— President, Mr 13. Chapman; delegate to Morrinsville Rugby Union, Mr J>. Piritt; selector, Mr .1. U. Faulkner.

MATAIVIATA SUB-UNION.

At a meeting of too management committee of the Maiamat-a Sub-Cnion Mr ,1. E. Cummings presided. At the request -of Christchurch Union a clearance was granted for a player named Anderson, formerly of Matamala.

The secretary was instructed to forward a letter of thanks to Mr J. Keane, Tirau, for his donation of 112 2s to the union.

Messrs A. G. Yardley and J. Cummings were appointed delegates to the Waikato Union. A large number of honorary members were elected, the subscription being fixed at 10s Gd. Messrs J. Green, D. Roigard and W. Glover were elected a grounds committee.

It was resolved that challenges be entered for the Finlay and Peace Gups immediately. The Referees’ Association were granted a donation of £1 Is. Messrs G. Wilson, P. J. McNamara and C. E. Barry were appointed as postponement committee. The chairman announced that Mr C. E. Barry had presented a challenge cup to the union for annual competition by the senior teams. The senior trophy (Rowe Cup) was won outright last season by Walton Club, and Mr Barry’s gift will replace it. In future, however, (he new cup will only be held by the winners for the one year.

A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr* Barry for his generosity. It was announced that the committee set up at the annual meeting to define boundaries in the union's, district had failed to come to a decision. In the meantime a notice of motion that the union rescind the resolution passed at the general meeting and revert to the old club system has been tabled, and a general meeting called for to discuss the proposal. The meeting will take place next week, when it is anticipated that the former system will he restored. The opening of the season was fixed for April 28.
