AUSTRALIAN ABORIGINES
HUMANE TREATMENT. SOCIETY ADOPT PLATFORM. The following platform, setting om its policy in regard to Australian aboriginals, has been adopted by the Ausiraiasiau Society of Patriots:— (1) That all aboriginals in primitive conditions are a first charge on the Federal Treasury, and should be provided for according to local circumstances. (2) That, in so far as New South. Wales is concerned, every eligible aboriginal, or person of aboriginal descent, should be provided with sufficient good land, house accommodation, implements, and live stock for the proper maintenance of his family, with full citizen rights. (3) That all aboriginals or persons of aboriginal descent, who are incapables by reason of age or through contamination by contact with Europeans, should be wholly maintained by the State on suitable reserves and in a reasonable degree of comfort, combined with a full measure of freedom. (4) That all children of aboriginals or of aboriginal descent should be allowed free access to the Stat* schools. ____—
