Candlesticks of bright painted wood. Amusing wooden menu holders in the form of little figures. A miniature maypole in the centre of the table, to the coloured ribbons on which on birthday occasions the gifts are attached. The latter is easily improvised from a painted wooden plantstake .with ornamental top, which can be bought in any large store. This decoration scheme provides plenty of colour. * * £ Jjs A wealth of colour is produced by an artistically arranged basket of fruit. Paint a high-handled basket with gold or silver paint. Then pile it up with oranges, well-polished, rosy apples, bananas, tangerines wrapped in silver paper, black and white grapes, pomegranates, and a few fresh figs. Decorate the handle with a bow of orange ribbon and some tawny chrysanthemums.
