IDEAS FROM PARIS.

WHAT IS BEING WORN. The all-day bag exists no longer. For tailored wear shark-skin or antelope is utilised, made much smaller than has been fashionable, and attached to a gold mount with a neat fastening in onyx and jade. For afternoon wear bags are very dressy little affairs. They are quite tiny purses of sac-shaped bags in old tapestry or petit point or beauvais work. Antelope is sometimes used in these also, but the mounts are more elaborate, and diamentc initials furnish the “dressy” effect.

Evening bags are smaller than ever, and are often made entirely of large pearls or rhinestones. The latter are quite the most fashionable pour le nuit, and are very effective, especially as rhinestone necklaces and shoulderstraps adorn many of the smartest evening gowns.

Consistency at Last.

The enormous silk handkerchiefs used for scarves also vary according to the style of one’s frock. The Parisian has several of these in gaily checked of brilliant plaid chepe de Chine, which she knots artistically over her sports frock, occasionally adding them to her simple house frock.

Scarves are used again in the evening, and come in legths of fancy tulle, lace, and georgette. Sometimes a lace scarf is worn knotted at the side with a great loop, while the loose end falls to the ground. At other times a length of embroidered georgette is twisted closely round the neck, fastening with a large jewel, either in a very modern design or of the heavy antique type to conform with the new bracelets. Very wide, and made or filigree gold, finelywrought in a danity lace pattern, these bracelets are usually wider than an ordinary cuff, sometimes reaching from the wrist almost to the elbow. For Sports, Wear. Sports shoes are much more coloured than heretofore. Grey and yellow and smokes are three of the shades in

vogue, and all sorts of combinations arc carried out with contrasting tones. Canvas shoes arc rubber soled, but turned out in quite dressy models, suitable for promenade wear. They come in beige, sunburn, and nude, and also in white with bands of bright, contrasting colours. The heels are, of course, very low in this type of shoe, which is expected to be in great demand during the summer, for it combined smartness, comfort, and practicability.

Natural Coloured Hats

Anothes summer fashion is to be natural-coloured straws, bleached as light as possible. They harmonise with the hosiery and gloves, but have ribbon bands the colour of the costume. White is only used in felt. Black satin made up in beret shapes is smart for dressy wear.
