EXPLOSIVES IN MINES.
ALLEGED CARELESSNESS. PROSECUTION AT GREYMOUTH. GREYMOUTH, Monday. Thomas Hilton was fined 10s and costs £3 15s on a charge of failing to bring out unused explosives issued to him at the State mine. This is the first prosecution of ' the kind at the State mine. ! Defendant admitted leaving the explosives at the mine, and said he did so to call attention to the dangerous practices in vogue, there being no proper control of explosives, these being stored, hy officials, he said, all over Lhc mine. _____
