AMATEUR ATHLETICS.
NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL. THE ANNUAL (MEETING. WELLINGTON, Monday. The annual meeting of the New Zealand Council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association was held to-night. Mr 11. W. McVilly congratulated the meeting on the fact that the assets exceeded the liabilities by £383 12s 3d. Speaking on the R. A. Rose Trust Fund, Mr McVilly said that on September 30, 1927, there was a balance of £1056 i 5s Id and that the, bulk of that amount had been placed with the Puclic Trustee.
The following resolution was passed:—
" That the standards of the 880 yards cycle (banked track), one mile cycle (grass and banked tracks) and three miles cycle (grass and banked tracks), be altered from 60s, 2m 30s, 2m 15s, 8m and 7m respectively to 595, 2m 15s, 2m 2s, 7m 30s and Cm 40s respectively."
Messrs It. W. McVilly and L. A. Tracey were appointed to represent the association on the Athletic Board of Control to be held in Wellington according to rotation. The 1928-29 track and field championships were allotted to the Wellington Centre.
The New Zealand cross-country championships were allotted to the Wanganui-Taranaki Centre. The following officers were elected: —Patron, Sir Charles Fergusson; president, Mr It. VV. McVilly; vice-presi-dents,, Messrs G. 11. Lusk and It. 1. Austad; delegates to Olympic Council, Messrs G. 11. Lusk, A. W. O. Travers; lion, auditor, Mr R. W. Shallcrass; lion, secretary and treasurer, Mr L. A. Tracy; administration committee, Messrs R. W. McVilly, 11. W. Franklin, L. A. Tracy; finance commifl.ee. Messrs R. W. McVilly, 11. W. Franklin, R. Connop; reinstatement committee, Messrs V. Hugo, E. G. Guy', H. 0. Austad; overseas representative, England, Dr A. E. Porritt; South Africa, Mr G. Emery; America, Mr C. G. Krogness.
