WOMAN’S INGRATITUDE.
“LADY WITH A HISTORY.” “She’s a lady with a history,” said Mr Perry, S.M., at the Central Police Court, Sydney, when Sergeant Dennis (Police Prosecutor) read the record of Kathleen Emerson, or Hamilton (23), a domestic. Defendant was charged with having stolen £lO, the property of Amy Doobrosky. The evidence was that Miss Doobros’ky employed defendant to do some cleaning, and before work prosecutrix went to her purse/ • and paid defendant 5s in advance. There was £lO in the purse, in addi- h tion to the ss, and defendant later went to prosecutrix’s mom and took the £lO.
Emerson pleaded guilty. “This woman did her a real good turn by paying defendant in advance, said Mr Perry, “and this is how she shows her gratitude.” The defendant .was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment, and ordered to make restitution of £lO, in default a further two months’ goaL
