DEHORNED CATTLE.
WANGANUI CONTROVERSY DECISION OF SHOW EXECUTIVE. Among breeders of cattle there is considerable controversy on "the subject of dehorning show animals, and the matter received ventilation at tho last meeting of the Wanganui Agricultural Association.
With preparations for the local show well under way it was stated that breeders had been inquiring whether dehorned cattle would be penalised by the judges, and as the practice of dehorning has become almost universal among large herds it was felt that a number of exhibitors would he affected.
Some members spoke against the practice; others were in favour of it; hut one prominent breeder of pedigree’ stock expressed the opinion that it was a matter for the various breed societies. All were agreed, however, that i t would be a good thing when dehornmg of cattle became compulsory. The meeting decided to ask the judges not to penalise dehorned cattle.
