AN IDEAL RIVER CLUB IN ENGLAND.
The Queen, who was staying with the Marquess and Marchioness of Cambridge at Sholton Hall, recently, visited a number of the antique dealers’ shops in Shrewsbury, and incidentally saved for England a fine Sheraton writing ’ table, which would otherwise probably have crossed the Atlantic. The table, which formerly belonged to the late Colonel Stanley Clarke, of Grinshill Hall, near Shrewsbury, is a beautiful specimen, and it at once caught, the eye of the Queen, whose judgment of sucti things is well known. Stic was told that the table tiad not yet been sold, although an American woman was very anxious to obtain it. “1 must have it for Buckingham Palace,” said the Queen.
The Duke of York intends to get in as much walking as possible while lie is iri Scotland this year. It: is one of his favourite forms pf exercise, hut he finds that, lie is unable to indulge in it very much owing to the fact that Ids duties almost always demand that he should either motor or ride on Horseback. His Royal Highness will also play tennis on the very line court has been added to Claniis Castle.
