It was decided to set up a small committee to see what could be done about certain local irregularities, and it was placed on record "That this association registers an. emphatic protest against the use of the Lord's Day for organised publio sport and pleasure, and urges its' members to bring the question before . their various congregations with a' view to establishing and maintaining'' a Christian attitude towards the .Bag" of Rest." ■
Mr Velvin, general secretary of the Y.M.C.A., Hamilton, gave an address on "The Y.M.C.A. and the Churches," outlining the work in hand and showing the excellency of the organisatioa for dealing with young men and boys, whether members of churches or not. It, was showii that the schemes offered valuable assistance in helping to check and guard against social impurities, particularly at that age when real danger exists. It was stated, too, that "Boys' Week" was again due, and it was hoped that the "Father and Son" banquets would be even more successful than last time.
At the close Mr Velvin was given ft hearty vote of thanks. The next meeting is to be held oa October 31.
