FASHION NOTES.

There are a variety of taffetas ensembles for evening or day wear. The colours run to navy and white, green, and white, and cornflower-blue and white. This last colour will be ditlicult for other colours to oust, as we have grown so fond of it. Bows still continue to hold all the smart frocks together. In fact, theirs is the' last say on a really chic frock or coat. n * # • Lots of frocks are merely simulating the jumper, and compromise by havuig the bodice sewn down on to the skirt, and thus appear to be jumper suits, with they arc not. * * * * Smocking is often seen, sometimes forming the whole trimming of a frock. An attractive model was pleated all over in tiny pleat?, held i? by smocking at the shoulders and hips. From no pockets at all to the comparative wealth of four should be a pleasant change, and though the makers of vanity bags may. be hard hit it will surely be a blessiug to have places in which to stow the powder puff, lip-stick, and hand mirror, so that they may be ready for instant service.
