Mr D. Jones, M.P., was unanimously re-elected chairman of the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board at the last meeting of the hoard.

Professor Edward John Gwynn, lecturer in Celtic languages at the University of Dublin, has been appointed Provost of Trinity College, Dublin. —London cable.

There was a large attendance of students at a farewell social tendered by the executive of the Workers’ Educational Association to Mr L. A. Mander, the retiring director, at Auckland, on Saturday. Mr Mander was presented with a gold watch.

Bro. Calixtus, of a Marist Bros. Order, who, up till recently, when lie left for Italy to attend a Noviatalc of the Order there, was teaching in Hamilton and prominent in local sporting circles, arrived in Auckland to-day from Sydney.
