BUTTER AND CHEESE. DAIRY BOARD’S CABLE. ,} The New Zealand Dairy Produce Board has received the following market. report from its London Agency, dated September 30. Butter. New Zealand Salted, 178 s, 182 s up to 184 s; unsalted, 184 s to 190 s. Market, temporarily quiet but forward position sound. Australian finest, salted, 1.76 s t.o 180 s; unsaltcd, 180 s to 184 s. Argentine finest unsalted, 174 s to 1765.' Irish creamery, salted, 1765; unsal led, 180 s. Dutch, unsaltcd, 196 to 198 s. Esthonian salted, 180 s to 182 s; unsalled, LS2s to 184 s. Siberian, 158 s in 1625. Danish, 194 s to 1965. Retail prices unchanged. Cheese. New Zealand white and coloured, 104 sto 106 s. .Market, very firm.. Outlook till end of year exceptionally good. Canadian finest white and coloured, 105 s to 106 s. English finest farmers, 120 s to 1245. Retail prices unchanged. LONDON MARKETS. The Department of Agriculture has received tiie following cablegram from the High Commissioner for Now Zealand, London, dated Ist instant: — Tallow. —Market quiet and prices slightly weaker. Present quotations are:—-Mutton: Fine, 36s Cd t.o 37s per cwt; fair to good, 34s to 365; dark to dull, 32s to 335. Beef: Sweet and/or mixed, 36s to 40s; fair to good, 33s 9d to 35s 6d; dark to dull, Sts 9d to 32s 9cl. Mixed: Fair to good, 33s 9d to 35s 6d; dark to dull, 30s Cd to 325. Gut, etc., 27s 6d to 3is Gd.

Eggs.—Prices higher and market quieter. Present quotations are: English and Dutch, 17s Gd to 21s per long 100; Danish and French, 15s Od to 20s; Belgian, 16s fid to 18s; Esthonian, 14s to 17s; Lithuanian, Russian arid Polish, 9s to 15s.

Wool.—Sales closed on Thursday. Attendance large and representative throughout, Continental buyers particularly prominent in merino section. Yorkshire purchases principally among New Zealand Crossbred. Feature of series was ready sale of large quantities of sliped wool. Compared with July series, greasy merino and fine crossbred, par to 5 per cent, dearer; medium and coarse crossbred, ;> per cent, to 7 4 per cent, dearer; fine sliped par, and lower grades par to 5 per cent, dearer. Average closing rates: 60-64's, no New Zealand offered; 5658’s, Is lOd to 2s Id per lb; 56‘s, is 8d to Is lOd; 48-50’s, Is bid to is Id; 44-46’s, Is 3Ad to Is 4 Id; 3640’s, Is 2J to is 34 1 i. There were 120,000 bales sold, of which the Continent took 60,000, Home trade 57,000, and U.S.A. 3000. Next series commences November 22. Oats. —Market firm with absence of offers of foreign descriptions. Plate afloat worth 265, October shipments 25s 6d. Chilean December shipments offered 24s 6d; Up to 20s- Gd obtainable for earlier shipment. Bad weather affecting English threshing. Supplies moderate and quality poor. Choice feed white held firm at 30s to 3is. Choice old crop make 35s to 3Gs. Values of New Zealand A grade Gartons, October shipment, 32s Gd. Beans. —Market very quiet. Supply of English winter moderate, and samples chiefly in soft condition. Only small demand for perfectly dry ones at 43s to 455. Choice old winter, 50s to 51s.

Cocksfoot. —On account of bad weather Danish new crop reported failure, and prices have advanced considerably, 90-95 at £5 7s Gd c.i.f. main ports. p cas ._Maple: New Zealand spot quoted 87s Gd to 90s ex store, and nominal value of first-grade FebruaryMarch shipments 77s Gd, and April-May shipments 70s. A grade Tasmanian February shipments 87s, March-April shipments 83s Gd. Blues: Market very quiet. New crop New Zealand and Tasmanian worth about £lB for shipment next spring, but no buyers at present for this position. Hemp.—Manila easier early this week, and J grade October-December shipments sold £42 10s, and down to £42 ss. Market steady at the close, sellers quoting £42 15s. Sisal: Market steady. No. 1 arrived sold £37, and No. 3 £36. Septcmbcr-No-vember shipments, No. 1, quote/d sellers £37 12s. Tow: Market quiet. Value No. 1, £3l to £32. New Zealand market quiet. Business has been done with October-December shipments on the basis of £33 10s for* fair, and £32 10s for common. Highpoints, sellers £35 :10s, but buyers ideas £35. Tow market quiet and easier. Value second grade £23, and thii'd grade £2O.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Hamilton, have received the following cablegram from their London House, under date 30th ultimo:—

“New Zealand Frozen Meat. —Lamb: 93d per lb; fair demand. Mutton: Wether and maiden ewe, light 6 3-8 d per lb, heavy 5 5-8 d; ewe, light 51d, heavy sd. Market slow.”

N.Z. IYSEAT PRODUCERS’ BOARD. The N.Z. Meat Producers’ Board has received tire following cable from its London' Office, dated September 30th, 1927, advising Smithfield delivered prices at that date as follows: New Zealand —Wethers and maidens: Canterbury quality, selected brands, 561 b and under Gld, 57 to 641 b G 3-Bd, 65 to 721 b Gd; other brands, SGIb and under 64d, 57. to 641 b Gd, 65 to 721 b aid. Ewes: 641 b and under 5 1-Sd. Lambs: Canterbury quality, 361 b and under 9fd, 37 to 421 b 9£d, 43 to 501 b 8 7-Bd,- seconds 9sd; selected brands, 361 b and under 9Jd, 37 to 421 b 9 3-8 d; other brands, Ist quality, 3GIb and under 9Ad, 37 to 421 b 9id; 2nd quality, 30 to 321 b average, 9 3-Bd. Beef: Ox lores 3 5-Bd, binds s£d; cow fores, not quoted.

Argentine.—Chilled beef: Ox fores 4d, hinds 6Jd. Frozen beef: Ox fores 3|d, hinds 6d. Frozen pork: 80 to 1201 b 9d, 120 to 180ib 7d. Lamb: Very firm. Mutton: Quiet, but firm.

CLEARING SALE. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Hamilton, report :—We held a clearing sale on Friday last near Taupiri on account of Mr M. Jones, and a most successful sale resulted. Choice Jersey dairy cows close to profit realised £ls to £22; Jersey cross cows, in milk, £8 10s to £l4 ss; heifers in milk, in low condition, £6 5s to £lO ss; pedigree Jersey bull, Patahana Laddie, 21gns.; breeding sows, £2 15s to £4 10s; store porkers, £1 3s to £1 7s 6d; weaner pigs, 8s to 13s.

FEILD2HG SALE. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on the Feilding sale held on Fnday, September 30:—There was a fairly heavy yarding of fat sheep and a small one of stores. There was also a heavy yarding of cattle, including a big lot oi dairv stock. The sheep sale was keen, prices being in advance of previous week’s quotations. Dairy stock sold very well indeed, and stores met with a good market. We quote: —Sheep: Fat shorn wethers, 24s 9d to 26s Id; fat shorn ewes, 20s to 20s sd; fat maiden shorn ewes, 235; fat woolly ewes, to 27s 2d; fat hoggets, to 24s 4d; store hoggets, to 225; ewes with lambs at foot, £2 Is 6d to £2 6s 9d, ewes in lamb, 30s 9d.
