MASSEY COLLEGE.

DEVELOPMENT WORK. ESTABLISHMENT OP HERD. PRESENTATION OF FRIESIANS. PALMERSTON N.. Saturday. At a meeting of the council of the Massey Agricultural College several matters were dealt with, bringing the plans for the establishment of the institution near completion. Gratification was expressed at the generous offer by members of the Friesian Association to present the college with pedigree heifers to be chosen by judges selected by the association. The members making donations of heifers are Sir A. Russell (Hastings), Mr E. S. Gill (Bloomfield Farm), Major Wilson (Bulls), Mr W. S. Kyle (Palmerston North), Mr J. 11. P. Liggins, (Tokomaru). A large number of grade Jersey heifers have been purchased, and from these it is intended to select a number for inclusion in a Jersey herd to he established.

In spite of the very wet weather, docking tallies show a very satisfactory lambing percentage. The development and subdivision of the farm has been pushed ahead at a steady pace. The property has been altered very much in appearance. During the last three months 71 acres of clay land have been mole-drained with very satisfactory results, and 70 acres have been broken up and will be cropped this season. The results of the tripod harrowing and top-dressing are noticeable in a very fine growth of grass.
