NIGHTWATCHMAN'S LEG BROKEN. WELLINGTON, Saturday. Frank Thompson, aged 36, married, a nightwatchman on the railways, was knocked clown by a motor. His leg was broken. BOY DROWNED IN VAT. AUCKLAND, Monday. A three-year-old boy, George Booth Beddingfleld. was found drowned yes- ; terday afternoon in a vat of liquid tan in the soap factory of Warnock Brothers, Limited, Grey Lynn. LITTLE BOY KILLED. CHRISTCHURCH, Sunday. While playing in the backyard of the house occupied by his grandparents, Mr and Mrs A. McNaughton, of Lyttelton, Charles Cooper, aged three years, the son of Mr Charles Cooper" ,of St. Albans, fell on the asphalt and fractured the base of his i skull. The boy was taken to the hospital, but died shortly after his admission. FOOTBALLERS HURT. AUCKLAND, Monday. Several- serious accidents to League footballers occurred during the match between New!on and Richmond for the Stormont Shield on Saturday. Rhodes, broken collarbone; and W. Somers, sprained ankle. CAR AND CYCLE COLLIDE. DANNEVIRKE, Monday. A collision on Saturday evening between a motor cycle ridden by Albert Charles Smith Phillips, Dannevirke Power Board linesman, and a motor car driven by Hooper-Smith, farmer, of resulted in Phillips being admitted to the hospital with a broken right thigh, a broken left arm, and severe facial and body abrasions.
