PRINCE MONOLULU.
FANTASTIC NEGRO RACING TIPSTER
A ..thrill went round Old Street Police Court, London, when the assistant gaoler called in stentorian tones for "Rass Prince Monolulu." The next moment there was a burst of laughter, in which even Mr Clarke Hall, the magistrate, joined, for the officer's summons brought into the dock a most fantastic figure—a gigantic Negro with a huge bush of frizzy wool and a smile of unusual breadth. Monolulu wore a voluminous cloak of scarlet cloth embellished with pictures of racehorses and jockeys worked in gold thread; a pleated white silk shirt; balloon-Like pantaloons of blue material adorned with scrolls in. gold; and high-heeled yellow boots.
In his hand he carried an umbrella j with a seat handle, and in the top of) his fuzzy head of wool he had stuck ' a big yellow pencil. Monolulu was described as a racing tipster, of Rowland Street, Tottenham Court Road, aud the charge against him was of obstruction in Cobb Street, j Stepney, by causing a crowd to as- j semble. j
A police constable said that he saw Monolulu selling tips and making speeches. Mr Clarke Hall imposed a fine of 30s, and Monolulu, after thanking him profusely, left the court, still smiling and fumbling with one hand busily in the pocket of his cavernous pants.
