i 1 DRAtWAGE BOARD. The October meeting of the Hunga- . hunga Drainage Board was held at To . Aroha on Saturday. Mr F. E. Hughes presided. There, were also present: Messrs Mathers, Harvey, Orr and Newsome. A resolution of sympathy was carried to the relatives of the late Hon. R. Bollard. The' Treasury sanctioned a loan of £250 for the Wairerc soldier settlement loan, subject to the condition of a term of 25 years. Mr Wild, clerk, wrote Mr Coafes, enclosing a form of petition for signature, connected with the above loan. The clerk reported that a vacancy occurred on the Board, due to the resignation of Mr llallotl. It was agreed to subscribe to the Drainage Boards' Association. The chairman stated that the preliminary survey work would have to be proceeded with for the Piranui drain work. Accounts totalling S.3'l were passed for payment. The Hoard discussed the appoint- j ment of a foreman. His time, it was considered, could be well occupied j during the coming month. —'The chairman slated it would be wise to wait for a month or two before taking action, but the time had arrived when a working foreman's services would prove of value to the Board.
