Womham) brought forward a scheme, the object of which is to encourage interclub competition and engender the keen club social spirit, by proposing that the Ilowdcn Shield become a championship club competition, instead of a champion rink competition. The proposal is to be submitted to the clubs in, the Centre’s district, who are to be asked to consider it and reply by November 20. The contest is to be played in six groups. Each club is to play a home and home game. Group winners are to meet in two sections, viz A and B. All clubs are to be allotted by the Centre with a minimum number

of rinks that must he played, but all 'Hubs are allowed to enter more rinks f so desired up to a maximum of 8 rinks. Play is to be decided by number of wins; if equal, the number of points to decide. Minimum rinks to be decided on Club membership i.e. on the basis of one rink for each twelve members (with a maximum of 8 rinks). In the event of a balance of the membership after dividing, over half to count, such as 54 members, 4 teams; 55 members, 5 teams; large clubs, where possible, must play full quota.

The number of teams to play, based on last year’s membership, is:—

To play each other. The salient Jcaturo of the proposed scheme, as claimed by its framer, is that while playing the championsliip club matches, clubs can combine an intcr-club match on the same occasion by supplying further pinks, the whole total counting as an intcrclub fixture while the Howden Shield teams will be kept separate for that competition.

Finding the Winners. In finding the winners of A and B sections the scheme provides for the winning group club lo draw for first game which will be played on the nearest green. Then the club getting the bye will play the winner of the first game on the winner s home ° r< The final between the winner of A section and the winner of B section will be played in Hamilton or on such green as agreed upon after the winners are found. Delegates from each club will bo the committee to arrange games in each group.
