• SUCCESSFUL YEAR / INCREASE IN SHAREHOLDERS* | REPORT OF THE DIRECTORS. The following is the fourth annualT report of the Hamilton Starr-Bowdiett Society (No. 1 Group), which is to! be presented to the annual meeting, 1 to be held on Friday next, 7th inst., act 8 p.m., in the Toorak Chambers, when in addition to the customary business, an appropriation of £IOOO will be disposed of by tender: — { It.is pleasing to note that the num-* her of shares which have been taken up in the Society, stands at 1334, being; an increase of 563 during the year* The total subscriptions stand at £8052 19s 6d, being an increase of £269.0 17s, compared with the total at the end of the previous year. Accumulated Profits. —These total £1993 4s 2d, and represent 24.7 per cent, of the amount paid in by shareholders. This is exceedingly gratifying when it is considered that the Society has been in existence for only four years, and the accumulated profit thus averages 6 per cent, per annum since the incorporation of the Society. Appropriations.—During the year three appropriations w-ere made—two by ballot and one by sale. In view of the increased number of shares taken up your directors are pleased to state that four or perhaps five appropriations will be possible during the ensuing year, and thereafter appropriations should take place every eight ■ weeks. Directors. —The retiring directors are Messrs McKinnon and Bourne, who are eligible, and offer themselves for re-election. Auditor. —Mr R. P. Hazard also offers himself for re-election.
