BARNARDO’S HOMES.

CONCERT AT CAMBRIDGE

A concert given in the Town Hall, Cambridge, on Thursday night by the Cambridge branch of the Young Helpers’ League in aid of Dr. Barnardo’s Homes. ' —~

The major portion of the lengthy programme was provided by the pupils of the Cambridge and district schools. The items w f ere w-ell received by the large audience, and children and teachers are deserving of the highest praise for the artistic manner in which tho items were rendered.

In the absence of the president of the League, Rev. Lionel Harvie, Air Frank Penn thanked all those who had contributed toward making the concert a success. Special thanks were due to Mrs A. W. Cane (secretary) for her splendid organising ability. Air Penn also gave a brief outline of the objects of the league and Lhe origin of the “homes.”

The programme was as follows: Eurythmics, Miss Austin’s pupils; recitation, “My Pocket,” Joyce Martyn; singing dance, Leamington School; recitation, Edward Peters; duet, “Where Are You Going to, My Pretty Maid?,” Joyce Taylor and M. Russo (Roto-o-rangi School) ; recitation, “Patria,” Jean Waite; dance (classical), Joyce Taylor; duet, "Will You Marry Ale?” Edna and Frances Morgan; piano duet, “Hungarian Dance,” Rita Price and Joan Maberiy; dance, “Legend of Sunflower," Miss Austin’s pupils; song, “Bird’s Song,” Learnington School; recitation, “1 Couldn’t Help It,” Nancy Martyn: singaphone, Cambridge hoys; piano duct, “Morning,” E. and 0. Holmes; ribbon dance, Cambridge School; song and chorus, Nora Easter; musical drill, High School girls'; recitation, “The Sea is His,” Walter Brockway; folk dance, Cambridge School; violin solo, Mrs Chatfield; recitation, “House of Too Much Trouble.” Lilian Floyd; sketch, “The Vicious Circle,” Grace Martyn and Flora Hardy; song, Mr T. Boyce; Irish jig, Miss Austen’s pupils; playette, “A Quiet Afternoon,” High School pupils.
