CHARGE OF MURDER.
DISAPPEARANCE OF A BABY.
MAN COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. WHANGAREI, Thursday. The charge of murdering and concealing the body of the female illegitimate)' child of Rosie Te Whiu, against Paul Lendich, a Dalmatian gumdigger, of Kauri Fiat, was concluded. ■Constable O’Gorman said he arrested accused and brought him- into the presence of the girl, who made a statement. Accused said she was telling lies, and that he had never seen a child. Upon being told he would be charged with, murder, accused said: “I have never seen it.” Accused, was committed for trial on October 25. Ilis defence w r as reserved.
