Mr J. 11. Elliott, who has been visiting U.S.A., returned to Hamilton yesterday.
Mr W. J. Jordan, M.P. for Manukau, left Hamilton for Auckland this afternoon.
Mr Robertson, who had been relieving at Malamata Post Office, has been permanentl y appoin ted.
Mr Walter Nash, secretary of the New Zealand Labour Party, will leave Hamilton to-night for Wellington.
Sir Charles Baiho lias been elected Lord-'Mayor of London.—-Cable message.
'Dr. R. P. S. Kelman, of Dunedin, has been appointed superintendent of Selby Oak Hospital, Birmingham—London Gable.
Hamilton Hotel guests include Mr Gordon Fraser and Air R. George (New Plymouth), and Major McKenzie (Auckland).
The British Secretary- of Stale for War, Sir Laming Worlhington-Evans, will leave England on November 13 on a visit to India. lie will inspect the British units stationed in that, country and will lie absent until the New Year.
Mi* and Mrs C. F. Priest ancl Mr P>. F. Priest (Wellington), Misses B. ancl M. Owen ancl Mr U. S. Owen (Poke.no), Mr and Mrs E. Tomlinson (Auckland), Mr and Mrs C. More (Walton), and Miss Ilaybittle (Te Kuiti) are at the Commercial Hotel.
Mr J. Fleming, of the Matamala Post Office staff, has been transferred to Pio Pio. Before leaving, Mr Fleming was the recipient of a parting gift from his fellow employees. In making the presentation Mr L. Flower (postmaster) referred to the departing officer’s capabilities and wished him every success in Hie future.
