LONDON WOOL SALES. FAIR COMPETITION: LATE RATES. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) LONDON, Sept. 28. At the won] sales there was a poor selection of Merinos and greasy crossbreds. There was fair competition for all sorts at late rates. New Zealand sales: 7K, top price 24d, average 21 d; Algidus, 45d and 4 4 d.

LONDON TALLOW SALES. LONDON, Sept. 28. At the tallow sales 1050 casks were offered, of which 344 were sold. Fair to line qualities declined Gd, and the lower sorts Js. WESTFJELD MARKETS. Dalgely and Company, Ltd., report:—Beef: A somewhat., smaller yarding of beef came forward at yesterday’s Westfield Sale. The quality and finish was not as good as the previous week. Competition was keen for all well-finished, hut oilier qualities were dull of sale. There was no quotable change in values. We quote: — Extra choice ox sold to 32s per iOolb.; choice and prime, 28s to 30s: "just I killable,” 25s to 275; prime young cow 'and heifer beef, 275; "just killable,” •20s to 255. Alfred Buckland and Sons, Ltd., report:—At Westfield our beef pens contained 349 head as compared with 510 at last Wednesday’s sale, comprising 132 steers and 208 cows and heifers. There was no improvement in the demand and generally values were similar to'those ruling last week. Extra choice ox sold to £1 12s per 1001 b; choice and prime ox, £1 8s to £i lis; secondary and plain ox, £1 Os to £.l 7s; prime young cow and heifer beef, £1 3s lo £1 7s; ordinary cow beef, £1 to £1 2s Od; extra heavy prime steers ranged in price from £l4 10s to £ls 7s Od; the latter price was obtained for steers ’from Mr William Yosper, Dingley Dell, Cambridge; heavy prime steers, £ll to £l2 7s Od; light prime steers, £9 15s to £lO 17s Od; small and unfinished steers, £7 10s to £9 7s Gd; extra heavy prime young cows and heifers, £0 15s to £7 17s Gd; lighter prime cows and heifers, £5 10s to £6 12s Gd; oilier killablc cows, £4 to £5 7s Gd; 24 from the same vendor averaged £l3 18s Gd and eight from lvereone Estate, Morrinsville, averaged £l3 15s 7d. The lamb pens contained 129 as against 42 at last week’s sale. Competition was spirited, although values were not equal lo last Wednesday’s. Heavy prime lambs, £1 13s to £1 14s Gd: lighter prime lambs, £1 11s lo £1 12s 9d; light prime lambs, £1 7s Lo £1 10s; small lambs, £1 2s to £1 6s 9d. A heavy yarding of calves, with few' good quality vealers, sold at values about equal to late quotations. Prices eased considerably toward Hie end of the sale. Runners made from £2 14s to £4 19s; heavy vealers, £3 Is to £4 Gs; medium, £2 IGs to £3 Is; light, £2 3s to £2 IGs; rough and plain, 15s to £1 10s; small and fresh dropped, Gs to £i IGs (340 sold). An increased number of fat pigs were penned. In comparison with last week's prices values for all classes recoded.
