DANGEROUS DRIVING.
PLEA OF GUILTY. On behalf of bis client, Mr Colin Taylor in the Magistrate's Court today entered a plea, ot guilty a charge of dangerous driving. Ihe police withdrew a further charge of negligent, driving. At about 5.30 p.m. on May 5, defendant. O. T. MeGuinn was riding his motor-cycle along Tr Aroha Street and as lie was temporarily blinded by the lights of an oncoming car. he struck a pedestrian, who was walking along the side of the road. The j'ooipalh was undergoing repair at 1 tie time. The pedestrian was knocked down and sustained a broken leg. Counsel remarked ttiat it. was a most unfortunate affair. The accident occurred about 5.30 p.m. and it was therefore questionable whether bis client should have had a light. He was blinded by the lights of an oncoming car and one would not expect pedestrians to be walking on the road. In imposing a fine of £3 with costs 13s, His Worship remarked that it was a dangerous thing for defendant to have continued on when he could not see where he was going.
