GLAMORGANSHIRE MATCH. WIN FOR THE VISITORS. MARGIN OF 206 RUNS. I Australian <O. N.Z. Cable Assn.) (Received August 3, 8.15 a.m.) LONDON, August 2. The match Glamorganshire v. New Zealand was concluded to-day. The New -Zealanders (who it was erroneously stated hail declared their second innings closed on Monday when the score stood at 144 for the loss of six wickets), continued their strike, and carried the score to 205 for seven wickets. Lowry then declared. Facing a deficit of 406 runs, the County went to the wickets, but had only compiled 109 when the tenth wicket fell. New Zealand thus won by 206 runs. THE GAME. COLLAPSE OF THE COUNTY. ONLY CLAY ABLE TO STAND. VISITORS’ KEEN FIELD WORK. (Australian N.Z. Cable Assn.) (Rec. August 3, 9.15 a.m.) LONDON, August 2. Before an attendance of 2000 the New Zealanders easily beat Glamorgan by 206 runs. Though 344 runs ahead at the end of the second day, Lowry did not enforce the closure as there was a possibility of the runs lining got. McGirr and Mills scored steadily, but the former had a lucky escapp from being run out through Sulli\an fumbling the ball. The seventh wicket added 56 in 45 minutes and then McGirr was bowled in attempting to force Hie pace. At 205 runs for seven, Lowry declared, leaving the county 406 to get but they never looked like coping with a very difficult situation. Three wickets were down for 47 at lunch time. Ciav (the captain) made a great but unsuccessful effort to retrieve the day by reaching his century for the first time in first class cricket. Hills assisted him to put on 32 for the fourth wicket, but a rot then set in. Nobody but Clay could do anything with the howling. Blunt took two wickets in one over, and even Dempster secured a couple for next to nothing. Clay readied his century in 21hours, while his partners were making 49 and he exhibited some splendid driving, sixteen of bis strokes finding the boundary. The New Zealanders howled and fielded with the keenest zest. The following are the scores.— NEW ZEALAND.—First Innings, 345. Second innings.
