DEATH OF A FIREMAN
VERDICT AT INQUEST. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Tuesday. Under instructions from the Minister of Marine an Inquiry was held by the coroner concerning tiie death of fireman Sidney Veale, who was lost from the trawler Countess on April 29. Captain Nilsson said Veilo was emptying ashes over the side and was carried over by the weight of a bucket and drowned. Witness thought he must have been struck by the propellor. A little time was lost in launching the life-boat, as tiie cover, which was nailed to the top of the boat stuck owing io the wood being swollen kvith water. Tiie lifdboat was launched in six minutes. There was no trace of deceased. A verdict was returned that deceased was accidentally drowned while emptying an \ashcan.
