REV. J. W. KEMP’S LECTURE.
CHRIST’S SECOND COMING. The first of the series of lectures by Rev. Joseph W. Kemp under the auspices of the New Zealand Bible Training Institute Extension Department, were delivered in the Baptist Church yesterday afternoon and evening. The afternoon lecture of the scries entitled “The Second Coming of Christ,” was illustrated by a large chart, which showed the great epochs in the history of the human race since the Creation, and the events which would, according to the prophetic scriptures, take place after the second coming of Christ. The Creation, the fall of man, the flood and the confusion of tongues at Babel were all dealt with. in the evening the subject was “The Christ of tiie First, and Final Centuries.” The lecturer said that it' was popular nowadays lo say that Jesus was a great teacher, that He is divine just as man is divine, if He was not indeed God as He claimed to be, then lie was the lowest type of man. Mr Kemp adduced Scripture proof and independent testimony that Jesus was indeed the Godman,” possessing all the attributes and power of God, and yet becoming a real man. In His there wais no one characteristic that overshadowed the others, all were in perfect balance, lie closed with an appeal that ali present would give the uhrist of the final century the place He had received in the hearts and lives of the saints in tiie first century.
The lectures will continue each afternoon and evening this week.
