TROUBLE AT COAL MINE
MINERS STRIKE AS PROTEST. WHANGAREI, Monday.' Work at Wilson’s Colliery, llikurangi, ceased at 0 o’clock this morning, the men coming out as a protest against two m'en who refused to pay their levies. The situation was discussed in the afternoon at a largelyattended stop-work meeting, representatives of the Ilikurangi mine also being present. It is thought the mines will remain idle to-morrow, but that the men will resume on Wednesday. Large orders have recently been placed with the Ilikurangi mine, and notices of termination of employment issued to 38 men recently were recalled.
