LONDON, June 18

The New Zealand cricketers opened the northern portion of their tour this morning at Sunderland in a match against Durham. There were 6000 spectators. The visitors won the toss, and in their first innings scored 373 runs. When stumps were drawn the home side had lost eight wickets for 111.
