THE ROYAL TOUR.
ARRIVED AT MALTA. AN ENTHUSIASTIC WELCOME. (A. P. Assn, and Sun.) (Received June 18, 11.10 a.m.) MALTA, June 17. H.M.S. Renown arrived this afternoon, and was escorted into the harbour by the first destroyer flotilla and a fleet of aeroplanes. All the warships were gaily dressed and fired a Royal Salute. Crowds lined the battlements and acclaimed the arrival of the Royal ship by hand clamping and cheering.
After numerous official calls their Royal Highnesses landed and proceeded through decorated streets to Valetta Palace, where an investiture was held.
Later they drove to Sanontoniv, the governor’s country residence, where they are staying the night.
