RESEARCH SCHOLARSHIPS.
AWARDED BY THE BOARD.

WELLINGTON, Wednesday.
The first scholarships awarded by the Scientific and Industrial Besearch Department were announced to-day, as follows: —
Mr N. S. Alexander, M.Sc, Auckland, for research into the absorption of X-rays'. Mr J. C. Anderson, M.Sc, Auckland, for the mutarotation of sugars. Mr P. W. Aitken, M.Sc, Otago, for Investigation of flax gum, with a view to its better removal and utilisation. Mr N. M. Bogers, Canterbury, research into the helium content of New Zealand natural gases... ~
