Their visit to the Theatre Royal, (says a Chrislchurch paper) as the guests of the management of "White Cargo," was spiced with the novelty of a glimpse behind the scenes whore pleasanl acquaintance was made with the famous author-actor, Mr Lcou Gordon, and Helen Slransk'y. The experience included that of being photographed by flashlight with Mr Gordon, who, later, in a speech from ttic stage, paid a graceful tribute lo the charm and beauty of "Miss 'Canterbury" and Miss Stewart. ■ A few minutes before S p.m., "Miss Canterbury" and her Maid of Honour, wilii their friends, arrived in the handsome Hudson brougham car provided by Dominion Motors, Ltd. A waiting crowd warmly applauded them at Iho entrance of the theatre, where they were met by Mr W. M. Moloney, Mr Gordon's personal representative, and escorted to a box, Where, with the expressed compliments of Mr Gordon, were two lovely bouquets and big boxes of chocolates. Their appearance in the box was the signal for a storm of hand-clap-ping from the audience, iho two girls standing during the ovation -and bowing their acknowledgements. When they were sealed, a buzz of conversation arose, it being a curious sight from the box lo see a sea of faces turned towards the girls, the effect of heads emphasising remarks that were being made imparting an effect of agitated movement. In the second interval the girls made a visit behind the scenes. * THE SOUTHERN FINALISTS. ENTERTAINED AT TEA. For about V-venty minutes before the parly left the Royal Oak Hotel, it was a matter of extreme difficulty for anyone to leave or enter the hotel by the main entrance, and as the girls and their, friends came out, Hie crowds surged irresistibly forward lo ensure the closest scrutiny possible (says a Wellington paper;.

At the D.I.C. Ihorc was another crush awaiting the arrival of the Southern linalists, who were at once taken in hand by the management and piloted to the crowded tea-room. There was a bright gala air about the decorations of the special tabic reserved for the visitors, and each one received a very 'handsome posy as "gifts lo beauty." The eight Wellington finalists chosen by the judges, who with Hie four in the final at the Opera House made up the Wellington twelve, were invited lo the Opera House on Monday night as the guests of N.Z. Entertainers, Ltd., and "The Dominion."

Messrs P. L. Brady and Co., Ltd., intend to present "Miss Wellington" with Bostock shoes for both travelling and .evening wear. Mr M. J. Kilmerton, representative for G.
