THE TECHNICAL SCHOOL.
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. THE BREAKING-UP CEREMONY. The Technical High School Committee met last evening, Mr W. 11. Paul presiding. . Those present were: Mr and Mrs S. B. Sims, Messrs W. Eraser, M.A. (principal), J. Treloar, B. H. Andrews, G. 11. Gilling and W. J. Lewis. Apologies were received from Messrs Snell and Hall.
Authority was granted by the Department of Education to the committee to subscribe to the use of the Hamilton Tennis Club's courts for the girls on Wednesday afternoons. Several r embers remarked favourably on the arrangement, which was considered an excellent one for the girls. Although opinions were expressed that the school was inadequate to accommodate the crowd of pupils and friends at the breaking-iip ceremony, it was decided that the school was the proper place to hold such a function, and a proposal to hire a hall for the purpose did not receive serious consideration. Mrs Sims consented to present the prizes to the girls, while it was decided torequest the Hon. J. A. Young, Rev. 11. G. Gilbert and Ihe Bishop of Waikato to speak at the ceremony. It was resolved to purchase a set of the latest edition, of Chambers' Encyclopaedia, and several technical books and magazines for the reference library. The report by Miss Dyer, inspector of domestic science, was read and received, several members commenting favourably on the satisfactory tcne of the work as revealed by the report.
The matter of Hamilton's representation in the forthcoming conference of woodworkers and manual workers at Auckland was left in the hands of the chairman and the principal.
