HOME AND FOREIGN. LONDON, November 7. A bandit, accompanied by two women, who, like himself, were masked and armed, held up a mail van outside Porshore, a market town in Worcestershire. One of the women covered the driver with a revolver while her companions secured three bags of mail. Then the three drove off in a waiting motor-car, which was subsequently found abandoned in a ditch. The rifled bags were found four miles away from the scone of the robbery. ATHENS, November 7. The Parliamentary elections passed off to-day with unprecedented quietness. Owing to the use of the proportional representation system the results will not bo available until tomorrow, but the Premier, General Kondylis, announces that the Republicans are assured of a victory. MADRID, November 7. \ communique was issued after a meeting of the Cabinet concerning the artillery officers who some weeks ago demanded the resignation of the Prime Minister, General Primo dc Rivera, because he had introduced an unpopular promotion scheme. The communique stated that the Government had decided to submit for King Alfonso's approval a series of measures designed to restore the artillery corps in question to its former status. No vexatious humiliations would be imposed on the corps ( which had a brilliant record of service. MANILA, November i. Bush fires caused heavy damage in ill the outlying suburbs of Sydney at ihe week-end. Between Sydney and Adelaide bush fires have seriously interrupted telegraphic and cable services. These were only restored late this afternoon.
