Shortly after three o'clock yesterday afternoon, Albert Edward Say, 42 years of age, butcher, was found hanging in a shed at the back of'his butchery. It appeared that deceased had thrown a light cord over a rafter while standing on a box, which he had then kicked from under him after passing the loop over his head, He leaves a wife and a family of three children. . WAIHI, Monday. A motor mechanic, S. Chappell, employed at Donaldson's garage, Seddon Street, met with a very painful accident this morning when repairing the engine of a car. Part of his clothing was caught In a revolving wheel, and his knee was drawn into the machinery. It was badly lacerated before the clothing gave way and released him. DARGAVILLE, Monday. News was received in town this afternoon of the tragic death at ReIlia of a young man, Humphrey Dreadon, a returned soldier settler, whose remains wore found among the debris of his whare. While proceeding by car to a shearing engagement in the Porangahau district last evening, Baden Powell Brooker, of Hastings, and Eric Hart, son of the proprietor of the Exchange Hotel, Havelock North, came to grief when going down a hill, falling a considerable distance over the side of a steep cutting. Their injuries were not thought to be serious at the time. At 8.30, however, Hart expired, it is believed as a result of a fractured rib piercing a lung. Brooker is suffering from slight concussion. Deceased was 22 years of age. The car was badly smashed. TAIIIAPE, Monday. Mr Stanley Peyton, junior, accompanied by Mr Arthur Hall and Mr W. Healy, left Taihapc for Moawhanga at 4.30 a.m. yesterday. The slippery nature of the road after recent rain caused the ear to swerve, and it crashed over a bank and turned completely over. Mr Hall was thrown clear and was badly bruised. The other occupants were pinned beneath the car, Mr. Healy being held only by a foot, nut Mr Peyton had the entire weight of the ear resting on his body. Although they were badly bruised np bones were broken. GIIRISTCHURCH, Monday. The capsizing of a car at Woodend this morning caused the death of one of the occupants, George Barton, a teamster employed at the Happy Valley station, and injuries to another, William Edward Marr, motor lorry driver.-
