' PURDY DEFEATS JAMITO. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WANGANUI, Monday. Charles Purdy met' Salvino Jamito at the Opera House this evening in a boxing contest of 15 rounds for a purse of £l5O. In an interesting bout Purdy won the first ten rounds. Jamito then changed his tactics and forced the fighting. He won the last three rounds, but only a knockout could have given him success. Purdy secured the decision on points. TUNNEY-DEMPSEY BOUT. RECEIPTS 1,895,723 DOLLARS. The receipts from the DempseyTunney championship bout were announced as 1,895,723 dollars. Tho total attendance was 125,732. It was also announced that Dempscy's end of the receipts would amount to approximately 700,000 dollars and Tunncy's to about 200,000 dollars. It was estimated the promoters would have a profit of about 500,000 dollars. The total paid admissions were 118,730. In addition there were 1996 complimentary tickets issued and 5000 tickets for employees.
