WAIPA COUNCIL.

MONTHLY MEETING. ROUTINE BUSINESS. Mr C. Macky, County chairman, presided over the monthly meeting of the Waipa County Council at To Awamutu, yesterday. There were also present, Crs N. Heid, 0. S. Clarke, \V. McGoe, Storey, S. Saulbrey, A. Livingstone, T. Church, E. P. Peacocko, J. T. •lohnson, J. S. Fisher and R. G. Speake. riegistralion of Licensing: Writing on the subject of premises requiring registration or licensing, the district health officer for Waikato district pointed out that it is the duty of the county council to compel persons to register their premises. A circular could bo posted to each occupier of premises requiring to be registered, advising them that they must make application to the council. When the applications are received the health officer will inspect the premises, arid ensure that they comply in a reasonable manner with requirements of the regulations. They cannot be registered unless they do comply.—Received. Drivers' Union.—The secretary N.Z. Counties' Association, forwarded parli- ■ culars hearing on the Dominion Federated Drivers' Union dispute, and stating that if Waipa County Council is cited and desires exemption, arrangements would be made to place the representations before the Conciliation Court.—Received. O'Connor's Road. —Mr F. B. Hartstone, Te Rapa, wrote drawing attention to the need for improvement to O'Connor's road. lie pointed out that he has to traverse that road daily, contributes £4O per annum as rates, and asks to have the road graded and sanded as soon as the weather is fine enough.—Left to riding members and engineer. Dyke's Road. —Mr F. C. Dyke, To Kowhai, asked if arrangements could be made for him to expend the amount of his rates on the road giving- access to his properly. He would reform and sand that portion as far as Murray's gate. He asked the council to repair and sand the steep pinches from Marwood's gate down to the bottom of the hill.—lt was agreed to allow applicant to do work to the amount of his rates, at his entrance gates. A Bad Access. —Mrs K. Attwood, Coates Street, Hamilton, drew attention to the very bad state of their access road, which is practically impassable.—Referred to riding member and engineer. Weed Infested Road. —Mr Percy Sclby, Koramatua, wrote that there is a blind road between his property and Lambcss' that is much infested with noxious weeds and rabbits. He had cleaned up half of it, and would keep all of the road cleaned and ploughed if the council would give him the use of it until such time as the council requires it. Mr Lambess agrees that the writer should have it. —Referred to riding member for a report. Elliott's Approach.—Mr G. Elliott, Ohaupo, drew attention to the need for improvement to the approach to his • farm. The culvert has been blocked most of the winter; it was cleaned out once but filled up again as soon as rain came, With loose dirt from the road in the cutting. A new culvert was needed and this should be raised higher at the lower / ■ en( j_—Referred to engineer. i •\ - A Te Kowhai Road. —Mr F. Woolrich, Te Kowhai, asked that something] bo done to the road leading from Taylor's to his place. The part! coming off the metal is very sleep and on wet days he was not able to bring much whey from the factory for the pigs He" had hard work to get up with the empty dray and had been .stuck up there a good few times when carting manure. —Referred to Cr Saulbrey and engineer. Fullerton's Deviation. —Mr D. Fullerton, Te Kowhai, wrote: "Some time ago I gave a deviation to the Newcastle Road Board, fronting section 125. It cut off a portion of my land between the old road and the one 1 gave in order to avoid a bad gully. The'small portion of land is almost useless as it is, 'I therefore request vou to close the old road and hand it over to me. I will clear it as it only contains scrub and gorse. JThere is only about half an acre. The piece I gave is one acre and runs right round the top of the gully in question. \our
