DAIRY PRODUCE.
THE FALL IN VALUES. BRIGHT SIDE TO THE PICTURE. Although the decline in the price of New Zealand butter on the London market to 155 s is not being hailed with joy, yet there is a bright side lo the picture in Ihut the clearing-out of stored stocks of hulter will clear the way for the new season’s produce and make it possible for compensating prices to lie obtained. "I suppose it is just as well that Ibis has happened,” remarked Mr \y. Goodfellow, managing director of the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company, yesterday. “We have got’to take our gruel. We have all got stocks that will sutler from the lowered prices. But there is this about it, Hie fall in values will stimulate consumption and all 1 lie bid stuff should he oIT the market before the new season’s produce arrives. There will then he a heller demand for New Zealand butler.” Mr Goodfellow added that the industry was not feeling very anxious about Ihe position. The latest advices from Australia indicated that the September and October exports were not likely lo exceed those of Ihe corresponding months of last year, and New Zealand butter, therefore, would not have to face the competition of heavy shipments from Ihe Commonwealth early hi Ihe. season.
