BURGLAR CHASE,
WOMEN JOIN IN STREET PURSUIT (From a Correspondent.) LONDON, April 20. Several men and women in llolmdalc Road, Kilburn, NAY., on Saturday evening joined in a chase after two thieves who had broken into a house in (lie road. A detective who was passing grabbed one of the men hut could not hold him. and both of tho thieves escaped. They had nearly forced a street door in the road when they were disturbed by Hie barking of a dog. They then crossed the road ’and forced Hie door of No. 3f. Going upstairs they were surprised by a man living in the house. They swung a mat at him, ran downstairs and into the street. Tne chase lasted about ten minutes. Nothing was stolen from the house. Two men, apparently foreigners, who ransacked a flat in St. Thomas Mansions, Westminster Bridge Hoad, S.E., and escaped with jewellery valued at illooo, arc believed by the tenant to have been watching the premises for several days. The theft was discovered laic on Friday night by the occupants, Mrs Louisa Watson, widow of Mr Ernest Sharul, the music-hall comedian, her two daughters, and a son, on returning after an absence of two hours. The front door lock tract been smashed and tho house thoroughly searched. The jewellery taken included a diamond ring valued at £2OO. The thieves Helped themselves to brandy and whisky. Surprised in Bedroom.
Surprised in a bedroom in Edensholme Grove Road, East Hliff, Bournemouth, on Saturady night, a burglar escaped through the second-storey window. As lie was climbing the garden fence an ex-Melropolitan Police constable named House grabbed him. but was knocked down with a blow on the bead by an accomplice and the men escaped. Jewellery valued at more than £2OO was taken. The house of Mr Henry Mond, son of Sir Alfred Mond, at 70, Knightsbridgc, S.W.. was entered on Friday night by burglars, who climbed a stack-pipe into a bedroom. A quantity of jewellery ami some banknotes valued at about £3OO were stolen.
