THE GREATEST SHOW,

There closed on Saturday night the greatest Winter Show ever held in this district. The exhibition was the biggest in at least three directions — in number of entries, which exceeded all past figures; in the quality of these entries, which, in many cases, would be difficult to excel; and in attendances. The benefits to the district of sucti a Show, organised as it is on thoroughly sound, practical lines, are innumerable. The chief ones are the wonderful advertisement which it gives to the district and the great educational value it has. These advantages are not immediately apparent, but that they have their effect is evident in the increasing success of the show from year to year. It is very gratifying to know that never since the Show "was instituted, 20 years ago, has it once looked hack. Even during the trying period of the war the flag was kept flying; not once did it suspend operations, while not on any occasion did it raise its price of admission. What makes very largely for the success of the Show is the fact that it is governed by a body of sound, practical men, who arc not restricted in vision and who arc guided very largely by an enterprising and enthusiastic secretary in Mr W. li. Paul. This year’s president, Mr W. Wallace, is also a man of good, level judgment, and he lias had the assistance of a hand of workers of the same calibre. To the executive the outstanding success of ibis year’s exhibition will bo an ample reward for their labours, although they arc entitled to the combined thanks or the whole community for tlie time, energy and thought which they have devoted gratuitously, to the public welfare. We thank and congratulate them.
